Drafting Instructions for Men's Pants


You can draft a pattern for a pair of men's pants by following these drafting instructions

All measurements are to be taken with the customer wearing a well-fitting pair of pants.


  Use metric units? Yes No

Outseam taken from the top edge of the waistband ( 1.5" -wide (3.9 cm) waistband assumed) to the hem.
Inseam taken from the crotch seam intersection to the hem.
Waist taken at natural waistline (best taken at the top edge of the waistband while wearing a well-fitting pair of pants).
Seat taken around the fullest part of the hip, while wearing pants.
Knee Width knee width (i.e. half of the pant leg circumference): taken at the knee, from a well-fitting pair of pants, or as the design calls for.
Bottom Width pant leg width at hem (i.e. half of the pant leg circumference) taken at the hem, from a well-fitting pair of pants, or as the design calls for.
Cuff Depth depth of cuff (leave blank if pants are not to have cuffs)
